Performance help

Why is my laptop
so slow?

Slow performance is a symptom, not a diagnosis. Cleaning random files or reinstalling Windows can miss the real bottleneck.

Common causes

Low free storage, too many startup programs, background apps, outdated software, malware, a failing hard drive, insufficient RAM and overheating can all make a laptop feel slow.

Signs the storage drive may be the problem

Very long startup times, apps freezing while opening, 100% disk usage, clicking sounds from older hard drives or repeated file errors can justify storage testing.

Should you upgrade RAM or SSD?

An SSD usually improves boot and loading speed when a laptop still uses a mechanical hard drive. More RAM helps when memory is regularly full. ADA Tech checks compatibility and the actual bottleneck before recommending an upgrade.
